Being Productive

I awoke in the middle of the night not quite sure where I was. It took a few minutes to realise that I was home.  I smiled and went back to sleep.

When the sun started peeping through the curtains I awoke properly and felt motivated to be productive.

I baked my own granola – oats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, linseed, a small amount of maple syrup and olive oil. I added a squirt of lemon juice and cocoa powder and popped it in the oven.  I would love to share this recipe but I change it every time and never use measurements. After 10 minutes at 180′ I added some dried fruits – this has been trial and error. If the fruits are added too early they can go hard.

Brother in law and family are staying at their holiday home and 2 of the party were going riding so I had arranged to take some gear for the hardy souls. Having ridden with these stables several times I knew it would be cold. I also knew they would have an amazing time. Carol, who owns Seacliff Stables is justifiably proud of her business and often finishes the ride on the beach in front of the Bass Rock.

We saw the photos later and 2 very happy people.

I collected Jack from kennels, popped in to school to pick up a package and some work, and upon arriving home set about making some bread. I made a sunflower seed and honey load and and a plain brown loaf.

I could hardly wait for lunch but I managed to hold back and savoured the freshness of the bread to accompany yesterday’s home made mixed vegetable soup.

After lunch He and I took Jack for an amazing walk across the fields and back along the beach. Stunning vistas across the islands.

Now we are heading up to Edinburgh to meet friends for supper.

I loved being away last February but I am loving being home – pottering, being productive.  De-cluttering tomorrow.

Being Productive – a poem

bustling hustling getting things done

home maker bread baker walking in the sun

washing ironing making up the beds

heading out to meet some friends – sure to drink some red.
